Safety & Etiquette

Introduction to Shooting Range

First-time experiences can be intimidating. It’s important to understand firearms-safety rules and etiquette while at the range.

1

Before You Start

Don’t be intimidated; everyone has had first-time experiences. Familiarize yourself with the range rules and ask questions as needed.

2

Safety Rules

  1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
  3. Ensure the gun is unloaded until ready to use.
  4. No forced reset triggers.

3

Protective Gear

Wearing eye and ear protection is mandatory. It’s recommended to use both earplugs and earmuffs for better protection.

4

Target Management

Keep targets centered and at eye level. Follow proper procedures for changing targets or shooters.

5

Cease Fire Protocol

Immediately stop shooting upon hearing “cease fire.” Every participant is a safety officer; it’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure safety.

6

Exiting the Range

Always follow safety rules when leaving. Do not remove eye and ear protection until outside the range.

7

Final Reminders

Prioritize safety at the range and during transport. Firearm safety is everyone’s responsibility to take seriously.
